MONDAY MARKET OF BATAPOLA
People from Batapola area and suburbs are coming to purchase or buy their daily needs such as fresh vegetables, fruits, spices, rice and all kind of consumer products from the monday market or fair of Batapola at very reasonable and cheapest prices. A thousand of individual salesmen and sales women are gathered to the monday market, (monday afternoon )situated at the down hill of padili kanda or palliyewatta.
(This area was belongs to the Methodist Church, and still they own little area of the hill. Still they have a Methodist Church up their in the hill. Long ago there was a Methodist school in the top of the hill where I started my education. At the moment there is a another church also have their ministry on this hill, namely Christian Fellowship Centre.)
These sellers are selling different, different things or goods to different people at the cheapest prices. Some of them are really manufactures of vegetables, fruits, spices, milk products, handycraftts, beautiful plants and flowers, etc. And they are selling direct to consumer. So, prices of particular products ara very cheap.
Sellers for fancy goods, cloths and materials, readymade garments, valuable and traditional herbal medicines can be found from the monday fair. People buy everything what they want by adequate quantities of goods for a week time. Monday market will be held on mondays continuously since long ago. There will be additional bus services and other transport services on mondays due to large crowds for monday market of Batapola.
